He also worked as a driller in the oil fields for several years before going into business for himself. In 1959 he bought his first truck and started Bill’s Tank Truck Service that he owned and operated until 1998 when he retired back to the farm.
Bill loved country music and enjoyed dancing with his friends most Saturday nights. He was a devout Christian all of his life, and was of the Lutheran faith. He was a workaholic, always finding something to do. Many days you could find him in the field at midnight after working all day at his regular job. A very generous person, Bill was always lending a hand to those in need.
He and Imogene have had an enjoyable 21 years together. When it was time to downsize the farm in their later years of retirement, Bill and Imogene moved to Barnsdall, Imogene’s hometown to have a little slower pace of life. Bill quickly made friends and was well received by the Barnsdall community.
