A.J. Ketch, III passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Stillwater Medical Center surrounded by his family at the age of 72. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
A.J. was born February 8, 1950 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Aurvil J. Ketch, Jr. and Victoria Marie (Lamb) Ketch. He graduated from C. E. Donart High School in 1968. A.J. and Sandra Weaver were married on December 15, 1968 in Enid, Oklahoma. A.J. served the United States Army for three years. He spent 13 months in Korea before returning to Ft Still in Lawton to serve the remainder of his duty before receiving his honorable discharge in 1971.
A.J. enjoyed hunting, fishing, amateur radio, gardening, woodworking, and brewing his own beer. He began working with his dad at Chuck’s Paint & Paper at the young age of 5. He continued to work in the family business until leaving for the service. After returning from his duty in 1971, he would rejoin his dad and continue managing the business for another 45 years until retiring. A.J. was also a member of the American Legion for 51 years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sandra; son, Jeff Ketch (Karen) of Guthrie, OK., and honorary son, Nate Pattillo (Olivia) of Skiatook, OK., who worked his way into A.J. and Sandra’s heart and now considered a son; sister, Sandra Everett (Tom) of Stillwater, OK; nieces, one nephew, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Ketch (Candy); and sister, Christy Ketch.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2PM Friday, February 18, 2022 at Lanier Cemetery, 6123 McMurtry in Stillwater, with Freddie Shiplett officiating.
