Bill Schrammel passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Perry. He was 85. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
Visitation will be 9AM to 8PM Friday, June 21, 2019 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 1PM at First Baptist Church in Perry. Pastor Kim Hayes will officiate. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in Orlando. Pallbearers will be Steve Schwandt, David Williams, Dalton Melton, Calvin Leach, Randy Mendenhall and Jerry Zemp..
Bill was born November 28, 1933 in Orlando, Oklahoma to William Edward Schrammel and Lydia Dorthea (Messall) Schrammel. He grew up in the Orlando area and graduated Orlando High School in 1951. He then attended Oklahoma A & M College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy in 1956. In July 1956 he joined United States Army and faithfully served his country for 2 years and was honorably discharged on July 15, 1958.
While in the Army Bill and Sue Jones were married on April 4, 1958 in Orlando. Right after he and Sue were married Bill began working for Metropolitan Life Insurance company selling insurance. He and Sue owned and operated some grocery stores in Meeker, Sparks, and the latest, M & D Foodtown here in Perry while working on the family farm with his parents in Orlando. He also retired from the postal service as a rural mail carrier north of Perry.
Some of Bill’s greatest enjoyments were going to livestock shows with his sons and grandchildren, antique collecting, going to personal property auctions, and woodworking. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Sue of the home; two sons, Mike and Annette Schrammel of Stillwater, OK., and David and Lorinda Schrammel of Orlando, OK; one sister, Rose Marie Avant of Piedmont, Ok; five grandchildren, Beth Perk (Tim) of Madison, WI., Katie Schrammel of Oklahoma City, OK., Marie Schrammel of Wichita, KS, Gage Schrammel of Ft. Bliss, TX, and Allie Schrammel of Orlando, OK; two great-grandchildren, Nate and John Perk. He was preceded in death by his parents.
