Interment will follow at Glencoe IOOF Cemetery (Glencoe South) in Glencoe, Oklahoma. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Billie was born on November 5, 1946, to Bill and Maxine Childers in Stillwater, OK. She grew up in Glencoe with her four amazing sisters, who were her best friends throughout her life. She graduated from Glencoe High school in 1965, where she excelled in academics and was an outstanding basketball player. She also attended Oklahoma State University.

In 1966, she married J.D. Elwood and they began their lives together on their family farm. Billie and J.D. had two sons, J.D. Elwood, Jr. and Cody Elwood, who were their pride and joy.

She began her career at Glencoe State Bank and then worked at Stillwater Designs, until her retirement in 2010.

Billie was a woman of great faith and enjoyed growing flowers, traveling with her sisters, watching sports and spending time with her family. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews, whom she adored and loved watching their families grow over the years.

Some of her greatest joy came from her grandchildren. Whether it was watching them play sports, sing, play in the orchestra, school events or just playing in the back yard, Billie (Grana) was there cheering them on. She was always their biggest fan and they were her biggest fan too. Grana was the one who was always up for any adventure the kids wanted to go on. From a simple trip to town for candy and McDonalds to taking the kids to the Great Wolf Lodge or a ride on the Heartland Flyer, she always made sure they had a great time. The answer was rarely no at Grana’s house, unless it was playing with the rocks in Grana and Grandpa’s driveway--everyone in the family knew that was a bad idea. She even rode out the 2013 F5 Moore tornado in a storm shelter with Teagan, he was never scared or knew anything was wrong because Grana was right there by his side. She also made sure all of the kids had a strong foundation in Christ, she read them Bible stories, took them to church and most importantly she set a wonderful example for them to follow. If there’s anything that has made this difficult time more bearable it is that we all know she is in Heaven, completely healed and that we will see her again.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, J.D. Elwood, Sr., her parents, Bill and Maxine Childers, her sister and brother-in- law, Linda and Terry Watson, her mother and father-in-law, Dale and Maxine Elwood and her sister-in-law, Judy Lentz.

She is survived by her sons and their families, J.D. Elwood, Jr. and his fiancé, Janlyn Hannah; grandsons, J.D. “Trey” Elwood III, Keller Elwood, their mother Natalie, Jay Hannah; son Cody Elwood and his wife Stephanie, granddaughter, Landry Elwood, grandson, Teagan Elwood. Her sisters Margie Garringer (Bob), Christie Shell (Larry), Marilyn Sullivan (Rick). Her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Elwood, and brother-in-law, Tommy Lentz. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made in Billie’s memory to Glencoe Church of Christ, 301 North Perry Ave., Glencoe, OK 74032.
