Billie Ray Schneider (Dowah) was born April 7, 1938 to Arthur and Rosie Schneider in Lipscomb County, Texas.
Bill grew up in rural Darrouzett, Texas where he enjoyed playing all sports and graduated in 1956. On May 11, 1957 he married Beverly Gillespie. They moved to Clarendon, Texas where he pursued his teaching degree. He then attended West Texas State University where he received a B.S. in Education and a Masters Degree in Administration.
His coaching initially took him to New Mexico and then several places across Texas where he retired after 31 years of teaching and coaching. Bill was revered for his optimistic attitude, a good sport, and a true gentleman. He was a great man of faith and an excellent roll model.
Bill loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.
Eventually Bill and Beverly moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where they could be closer to their camping and fishing family. They enjoyed time with cousins and friends at various camping spots, especially Canton Lake, Oklahoma.
For the last 41/2 years they lived in Stillwater to be closer to family. Bill never met a stranger. He loved to visit, and he touched many lives of his students, athletes, and anyone he encountered. Bill was blessed to be a blessing.
