Carolyn Jo Morris, 76, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went home to meet her Savior on Monday, November 7, 2022, at her home south of Perry surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
Carolyn was born February 21, 1946 in Covington, Oklahoma, the daughter of Fred Avery and Geraldine Loraine (Hearn) Avery. She grew up in Covington and graduated from Covington High School in 1964. She married Richard Dean Morris in 1967. She was employed as a cook for Perry Public Schools. She loved traveling to Colorado during the summer months. There she loved hunting mushrooms and strawberries as well as rock hunting. Riding her side by side to the mountains. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids. Other great hobbies of Carolyn’s include Bingo, Casinos, and Dancing. And of course, her never ending home improvement projects. She will be remembered for the many different treasures she collected down through the years, but her priority was always her family if help was needed, it was her that always came to the rescue. She was a great role model to all that loved her. She leaves behind countless memories and unconditional love that will be greatly missed.
She is the mother of two sons: Billy Joe Morris, Omaha, Arkansas, and Dustin Wayne Morris and his wife Mandy Ann, Perry, Oklahoma. She is the sister of Judy Loraine Griffin and her husband Matt of Covington, Freddie Wayne Avery and wife Louise of Hempstead, Texas, and Billy Dean Avery and wife Brenda and Tommy E. Avery and wife Sondra, all of Covington, Oklahoma.
Her grandchildren are Cody Morris, Shelby Morris, Jerri Dawn Morris-Behne and husband Cody, Blyss Brenae Morris, and Connor Wayne Luis Morris. Her great-grandchildren are Braxton Morris, Aubrey Morris, Stetson Morris, Lillian Morris, Rhett Morris and Ryle Morris; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Geraldine Avery; her husband, Richard Dean Morris; a son, Jerry Dean Morris, a daughter, Laura Ann Morris Smalley, grandson Richard Ty Field, two brothers: Danny Ray Avery and Johnny Lee Avery, and a nephew, Brady Avery.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Covington. Rev. Phillip Gregg will officiate. Burial will follow at Covington Cemetery under direction of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Cody Morris, Cody Behne, Brian Griffin, Shelby Morris, Connor Morris, Logan Golay. And Kavan Crosby.
Visitation will be from noon till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
