With deep sadness and heavy hearts we inform you of the passing of Cheryl Lynn Jeffrey.
She passed away on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 11:03 AM in Stillwater surrounded by her three children.
Cheryl was a courageous person who had battled cancer for nearly two decades. Ordinarily this disease withers people away quickly, but she persevered living her life to the best of her ability, loving her family with all of her heart and giving constantly to the community she loved so much.
Despite this often debilitating disease, which required her to undergo countless rounds of chemotherapy and other medications, she endured. This can do, never quit spirit is likely attributed to being a born and raised Oklahoman, of which she was immensely proud.
Cheryl was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, November 5th,1961 to Claude and Rachael Driskel (Reddout). It was there on a quiet farm where she could always be found nurturing and caring for rescue animals, especially a skunk, coyote, and opossum she often spoke fondly of. Throughout her childhood she developed her love for community, animals and her sense of selflessness.
Cheryl graduated from Glencoe High School in 1980. She embraced those years whole heartedly, living life to the fullest. Her free spirit shone through in her love for concerts, social gatherings, and her ability to effortlessly be the life of the party.
Cheryl's journey led her to Mulhall, where she met the love of her life, Jay Delane Jeffrey. They were united in marriage on August 26th, 1988, and soon built a beautiful life and family together. Within three years, they were blessed with three children, eventually settling in Glencoe, Oklahoma, to raise them in a home filled with warmth and devotion.
Her love for children followed her throughout her life and her career, as Child Nutrition Director. This was evident through her daily desire to make sure children were nourished, attended to and never hungry. To her, Glencoe Public Schools was a calling and a privilege and twenty years of service and passion made that very clear. Most importantly and above all she made children feel loved, respected and seen with small but meaningful gestures.
To Cheryl, Glencoe wasn't just a small town on the outskirts of a slightly bigger town. It was her community and her home, a community where she chose to lay roots and where she tried day after day to keep growing and prospering.
One of the most important parts of Cheryl's life was her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother of three children. She doted on and cared for her children with unparalleled compassion and made sure they were always her top priority. Eventually she became a grandmother of nine grandchildren whom she absolutely adored and who brought her immense happiness.
Cheryl was the perfect mother and grandmother, but what made her heart whole was being the wife to the love of her life, Jay Delane Jeffrey. She saw and brought out things in him that made it clear they were destined to be entwined and in love forever. In Jay, she saw warmth, safety and love. From the day they married till the day she held his hand as he slipped away from this earth, she was always absolutely devoted to and in love with him.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband: Jay Delane Jeffrey, parents: Claude & Rachael Driskel (Reddout), brothers: Max Driskel & Darold Driskel, sister: Claudette Burr, and beloved dog: Bonnie Lu Jeffrey.
She is survived by three children: Kyle and Rayne Jeffrey of Ninnekah, OK, Shallaway Jeffrey and Paul Chino of Brooklyn, NY, JayLynn and Michael Sperry of Edmond, OK, nine grandchildren: Isla Jay Chino, Luna Lynn Chino, and Ewan Chino of Brooklyn, NY, Watchman Cooper Sperry, Witness Theodore Sperry, Waken Charlotte Sperry, and Wells Thomas Sperry of Edmond, OK, Bronc Cowin and Bodie Cole Jeffrey of Ninnekah, OK, brothers: Harold Driskel and Bill Driskel (Lynn), sisters: Carolyn Loucks (Byron) and Cathy Sumpter (Bobbie) as well as numerous nieces & nephews whom she loved dearly.
Her family will continue to grow and prosper but in time the youngest of her family may forget or never get to fully know just how beautiful Cheryl Lynn Jeffrey truly was. We humbly ask that you occasionally remember our mother for the kind, warm and beautiful person she was. If we all do our part, the memory of her will endure forever.
