Debby Suzanne Mangold

September 28, 1954 — December 1, 2022

Deborah Suzanne Mangold, 68, of Stillwater lost her battle to colon cancer on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Debby was born on September 28, 1954, in Frankfort, Germany to Martin Peterman and Shirley (Hartzog) Gustavson. Debby and her two younger brothers were raised on military bases. They were in Japan during Debby’s tween years. Debby attended high school in New York City and later graduated high school in Okmulgee, Oklahoma where she met the love of her life, Wayne Mangold. Wayne and Debby were married for 45 years, and together they had three daughters and raised them in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

When they were young, Debby enjoyed being involved in her daughters’ Sunday school classes, being a girl scout troop leader, being homeroom mom and taking her daughters cupcakes at school on their birthdays and attending her daughter’s sporting events.

Debby was a bold, and fearless, on the go, adventurous person from the time she was a small child who sometimes did things that resulted in her getting hurt with minor bumps and bruises and occasionally more seriously, but usually she could laugh it off and was a good sport even joking about it with friends. Some would say that is something about her that was just Debby. She was known to be the first to admit her life-long clumsiness and absent-mindedness and the first to laugh at herself. She loved to laugh, listen to music and be around friends and family. She especially loved being by the lake swimming and enjoying campfires. Debby was always known to be ready to have fun.

Debby had many hobbies some she enjoyed including reading, writing, crafting, painting furniture, decoupaging, Christmas decorating and going all out on her very fancy bows on her Christmas presents. She had so much love for her family and in fact one of her very last concerns on earth was making sure she had the perfect Christmas gift for each of her family members. She would want all her family and friends to celebrate her life with one big party in her honor while listening to her favorite music.

Debby was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mangold; granddaughter, Alexis Wolff.

Debby is survived by her three daughters, Amanda Page and husband, Bobby of Stillwater, Sarah Wolff of Stillwater, Angela McDonald and husband, Brian of Yukon; her beloved mom, Shirley Gustavson and step-father Gus of Broken Arrow, OK, father, Martin Peterman of Stillwater, OK; two brothers, Russel Peterman of Claremore, OK, Karl Peterman and wife Luellen of Stillwater, OK; six grandchildren, Ashlynn, Bailey, Logan, Connor, Zachary and Maddox; one great-granddaughter, Evelyn. She is also survived by Audra Adame, her close friend and caregiver, her dog Lily and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
