Edith Maxine Henry

December 8, 1925 — November 28, 2025

Stillwater

Edith Maxine Henry, a cherished matriarch and talented seamstress, peacefully joined her heavenly father on November 28, 2025. She was 10 days shy of celebrating her 100th birthday, a milestone that reflects a life rich in love, family, and service. Edith’s enduring spirit now reunites her with her beloved husband, Boyd Henry, her parents, Alan and Josephine Creager, and her three older brothers, Lyle, Norris, and Walt Creager and son in law Roger Bastion.

Born on December 8, 1925, in Goodnight, Oklahoma, Edith grew up in a close-knit community and attended Goodnight Elementary School. Her educational journey continued at Perkins High School, where she embraced the formative years of her adolescence. Following high school, she pursued college studies in Enid, Oklahoma, but her plans took an unexpected turn when World War II called upon her to serve her country. With a steadfast sense of duty, she left college to support the war effort by working in a bomb factory in Phoenix, Arizona. It was during this pivotal chapter of her life that she met Boyd Henry, a military serviceman, and sparked a love story that would last a lifetime.

After the war, Edith and Boyd made their home in Sheldon, Missouri, where they embraced the rewarding life of farming until Boyd's untimely passing in 1957. Subsequently, Edith returned to Perkins, Oklahoma, where she found solace and support in being close to her parents. Demonstrating resilience and strength, she began a long and fulfilling career at First National Bank (now Bancfirst), dedicating 29 years of her life to serving the community before retiring.

Edith was the proud mother of two children, Sherri Bastion and Dennis Henry. As a devoted mother, she guided and nurtured her children into adulthood, providing unwavering support throughout their lives. Her talents as a seamstress were remarkable; she not only crafted beautiful wedding and bridesmaid dresses, but also excelled in alterations, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she served. However, her true passion lay in quilting, and over her lifetime, she created at least 200 quilts, each one a testament to her love for family and friends.

Beyond her seamstress skills, Edith found joy in flowers, gardening, cooking, and playing cards with her friends from work and church. Her heart swelled with pride when it came to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent together, often teaching them how to drive or making sure candy was always on hand for sweet surprises. Family gatherings, especially festive holiday meals, were moments she treasured, as they allowed loved ones to come together and celebrate their bonds.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Henry and wife Regina, Sherri Bastion. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Edith Maxine Henry's legacy is one of unwavering love and dedication to her family. She will be greatly missed, not only for her nurturing spirit but also for the warmth and joy she brought to the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
