Ernest Gaines Hotson

Ernest Gaines Hotson, 91, was born October 25, 1934, in Covington, Oklahoma. The son of William Richard Hotson and Caroline Elizabeth (Gopfert) Hotson. He passed away May 21, 2026, at his son Marvin Hotson’s home in rural Perry. After school, Mr. Hotson served in the United States Air Force from October 26, 1953, to October 26, 1961. He worked as a Welder for 36yrs at Ditch Witch and after retirement, he raised cattle, donkeys and took care of his farm cats. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating and camping. 

Survivors include two of his children: Marvin Dwayne Hotson and wife Cheryl of Perry and Brenda Diana (Hotson) ZumMallen and husband Robert of Pueblo, Colorado. Grand children: Dennis Hotson, Jason Hotson and wife Brenda, Aron Hotson and his wife Stephanie, Sheena Hotson and Darreal Williams. Great grandchildren: Colton Gunnar Hotson, Levi Hotson and his wife Lyric, Trenton Hotson, Brianna Chantnacran and husband George, Caydence Hotson, Donavon Hotson, Curtis Flick, Preston Drennan, River Williams, Kaidence Williams-Spears. Great-great grandchildren: Remi, Ryleigh Lou, Liam Hotson, Evelyn and Aiden Hotson and Luka Chantnacran and Cayson Schneider. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Caroline Hotson, a brother John Hotson, a sister Judith Hotson, two wives: Velma Hotson in 2026 and Edna Hotson in 2004, a son James Darrell Hotson; three step children: Rita Bundy, John Earl Webber and Jean Kingsley.
