Gayle Deon Goforth

Gayle Deon Goforth, 91, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:30 am the First United Methodist Church of Perry. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Born on January 23, 1934, in Okeene, Oklahoma, to Henry and Bertie (Walker) Goforth. He graduated from Homestead High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army for two years. He then worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service as a Watershed Construction Inspector until his retirement in 1993.

Gayle married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Carver, on May 2, 1954. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and church. He was a devoted father to three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed farming, playing cards, and dominoes, and was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a active member of the First United Methodist Church of Perry until he moved to an assisted living facility.

Gayle was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Goforth, parents, Henry and Bertie Goforth, brothers, Durwood Goforth, Jerry Goforth, Duane Goforth, Jack Goforth, Royce Goforth, Billy Goforth, and Glenn Goforth, and sister, Maxine Wintermute, and brother-in-law, Robert Carver.

He is survived by his children Michael Goforth and spouse Sharla, Mindy Goforth, and Alex Goforth, and his grandchildren, Donovan Brown, JaLeesa Brown, Jameson Brown, and Hannah Mullins, and great grandchildren Donovan Brown, Ruby Brown, and Kyngston Hobby, and sister-in-law Ruthie Carver, Boi and several nieces and nephews.
