George Earl Disel

George Earl Disel was born October 07, 1950, in Wewoka Oklahoma to Dorothy Ramona (Landers) Disel and Vernon Everett “Dutch” Disel and moved to Cushing with his family when he was 3 years old. He attended Harmony Elementary School and later graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1968. During high school he worked part-time at a sheet metal shop in Cushing as well as Texaco City Service Pipeline.

In July of 1970 George married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Kay Bush. The couple moved just East of Stillwater in 1972 when he began working for OSU Police Department. After 13 years with OSU, he joined the Payne County Sheriff's Department as a patrolman in 1985. Throughout his career with the department, he was aa supervisor and an investigator until his retirement in December of 2020. When not serving the citizens of Payne County he owned and co-operated with Kay, Disel’s Service Station until its closure in 1994.

When he wasn’t working or serving, he spent time hunting, fishing, camping or hunting mushrooms until his health deteriorated in recent years, but his favorite times were holidays and celebrations with his family.

George is survived by his wife, Kay, of 53 years: two daughters, Karen and husband (and favorite son-in-law) Justin Ward of Perkins; and Pamela Disel of Payne County. Four grandchildren: Taylor Disel and wife Kelyn of Perkins; Drake Foster and girlfriend Kori of Stillwater; Graci Ward and Axton Ward of Perkins; and two great-granddaughters Keely and Kolette Disel of Perkins; and one brother Ron Disel of Stillwater.

George was proceeded in death by his parents, one sister Beverly Cox and one brother Tom Disel and beloved puppy “Bell Dog”.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 2:00pm at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
