Jan Ellen Honeyman, a passionate counselor for those in need, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Born on October 4, 1944, Jan exemplified a life of service, fueled by her commitment to helping others.
A proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, Jan earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master's Degree, laying a strong educational foundation for her rewarding career. While attending OSU, she worked as an insurance agent for 13 years, which further developed her ability to assist others. Following her time in Stillwater, Jan transitioned into community service, taking on roles such as counselor and case manager under the guidance of Edwin Fain, before moving to Ponca City, where she focused on assisting the severely mentally ill.
Jan's passion for her work was unwavering; she agreed to work at Bridgeway, contributing as a counselor, group leader, and participating in the drug court program. Her dedication to the community brought her back to Stillwater, where she established an alcohol and drug program aimed at helping individuals regain their driver's licenses through assessments and support groups. Jan found deep fulfillment in her career, often expressing how blessed she felt to continue her work and dedication to her clients.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jan also cherished her role as a loving family member. She married Melvin Honeyman in 1966 and together they shared a life filled with love and contributions to their community. Jan's active participation as a Cub Scout Leader and a Brownie Leader for the Girl Scouts showcased her commitment to nurturing the next generation.
Jan is survived by her children, Dean Honeyman, Khrystal Humble and husband Chris, and Shelle Fletcher and husband Vernon; her grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Karrah, Dean, and Luke; and her six great-grandchildren, Landon, Lexie, Charlotte, Macie, Jack, and Axel.
