Jim Patrick Steward

Jim Patrick Steward, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2025, at the age of 78, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on October 2, 1947, in Yale, Oklahoma, Jim lived a life filled with purpose and passion.

A dedicated aircraft mechanic at Spirit Aerosystems, Jim took great pride in his work. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his service to his country as a member of the United States Army, where he held the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4). Jim’s dedication to serving others extended beyond the military; he was actively involved in his church and held dear the friendships formed within his church family.

Education was important to Jim, who earned a bachelor’s degree, illustrating his belief in the value of learning and personal growth. He had a zest for life, evident in his love for deer hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and spend precious time outdoors. Above all, Jim cherished the time spent with his family, reflecting a deep love and commitment that defined much of his life.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Sue Steward, and his children: James P. Steward Jr., Jaymie Gagne and her husband Phillip Gagne, and Kevin Campbell and his wife Courtnee Campbell. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Amelia Steward, Abigail Steward, Gage Campbell, and Ian Campbell. His sibling John Steward. Niece Jennifer and nephew Scott, who all remain as part of his legacy, sharing in the memories that they created together.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Eugene Steward, his mother, Mary Audley O'Flynn, his sister, Anne Ritter and his brother, David Steward.

Visitation for Jim will take place on December 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stillwater - Dighton Marler Funeral Home, located at 5106 N Washington St, Stillwater, OK 74075. The funeral service will follow on December 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM also at the same location, culminating with a burial service at Fairlawn Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

As pallbearers, Jim will be honored by his loved ones Jim Steward Jr., Phillip Gagne, Kevin Campbell, Gage Campbell, Ian Campbell, and Scott Steward.

Jim Patrick Steward leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and commitment to family and community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
