Joyce “Louise” Richmond
Louise lived an amazing life full of so much love and joy. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 19, 2026, at the age of 82. Lou was born to Ray and Pearl Henderson on December 5, 1943, in Stillwater, Oklahoma where she lived and worked on the family farm. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1962. She briefly studied at Oklahoma State during the time she met the love of her life, Norman Richmond. They married at Diamond Valley Church on August 17, 1963, where their 63-year lifelong adventure began.
Louise and Norman lived and served churches that became their second families in Tennessee, California, Mississippi, Florida, and back to Oklahoma. Over the years, she loved serving alongside Norman in church ministry filling many roles in music, women’s auxiliary, and children’s ministry which was the source of so much joy for her.
After being a stay-at-home mom, Lou worked in the Stillwater public schools, eventually as the clerk of the Stillwater Board of Education. After retirement, she discovered a passion for competitive sports competing in the Senior Olympics and a local Pickleball group. She was an energetic aerobics and Silver Sneakers instructor at Total Health and the YMCA.
Lou will be remembered with deep love by her family and all who knew her. Her 63-year marriage to Norman is an example of a lifelong partnership and the deepest devotion and commitment. She also leaves behind three children, Tim Richmond and his wife Teresa, Toni Ruggles and her husband Mark, and Tammy Richmond and her husband Tom. Her family circle was further blessed by her remaining sister Jo Alice Freeman (husband Jim), as well as five grandchildren (officially) and eight great-grandchildren along with many others she would claim as her own, in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pearl Henderson, and her siblings Rayora Moore (and husband Bill), and Bill Henderson (and wife Linda).
The family wishes to thank the amazing staff and caregivers at Legacy Village and Karman’s Hospice who became like family.
Lou’s life was deeply rooted in faith and family, and her influence and memory will remain a cherished blessing to those who loved her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life.
