Larry Max Adams, a distinguished engineer, businessman, and public servant, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on April 13, 1940, in Lucien, Oklahoma. Larry's journey was marked by dedication to education, community, and family.

Max spent his formative years in Lucien, where he attended local schools before graduating from Perry High School in 1958. Demonstrating an early passion for engineering, he pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma and later earned his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.

Following his academic achievements, Max embarked on a career that would see him make significant contributions both in the private sector and public service. After graduating from OSU, he relocated to Alton, Illinois, where he worked for Lacleet Steel. Eventually, he returned to Oklahoma and served as an engineer at Tinker Air Force Base. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own several businesses, including a mobile home park in Stillwater, a restaurant, a liquor store, an insurance agency, and multiple rental properties in Perry.

Max's commitment to his community extended beyond his business endeavors. In the early to mid 1980s, he served as the Mayor of Perry for one and a half terms, demonstrating leadership and dedication to the growth and well-being of the city.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sherry Rae Adams; his son, Scott Adams; and grandson, Tyler Adams. Max also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members who will remember him with great affection.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Marilyn Seeliger, Janice Doggett, and John Adams, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.

A visitation to honor Larry Max Adams will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Perry - Dighton Marler Funeral Home, located at 203 Fir Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Graveside service will be Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Hill Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived.

Max’s legacy as a dedicated professional, community leader, and family man will be remembered with respect and admiration by all who knew him. His contributions to his community and the lives he touched remain a testament to his character and spirit.
