Leo Dee Sargent, 92, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
He was born on August 13, 1933 in Perry, Oklahoma to Eula (Tuttle) and Harold Sargent.
Leo attended schools in Perry and was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict and made the rand of Sergeant. After his time in the military, he returned home and went to work in construction and the oil fields. One of his favorite jobs was traveling for work with R. L. Frailey Construction.
Leo enjoyed donning his cowboy hat, western shirt, and boots, and in his words, " getting out amongst' em" on a Friday or Saturday night. He liked country music, a cold brew, talking to anyone, and his beloved dog, Snoopy.
His hobby was working on engines large or small. Whether it was a pickup, car, or lawn mower he would take on the challenge. He would spend hours in the cold or stifling heat under a vehicle diagnosing the problem.
Leo attended Kaw Street Chapel and developed a bond with the pastor and members of the congregation. He enjoyed and appreciated the friendships of those he met and their visits to see if he needed anything.
Those who preceded him in death include his parents; infant son, Devon DeWayne; sisters, Ethel McNeal, Wanda Edwards, and Mary "Billie" Vaden.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sydney (Christopher) Thompson of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Shana Henderson (Michael) of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Jackie Wolfe, Tawni Sigrist, and Cheryl Macias; nephews, Chris Busse, Eric Edwards, and Butch Macias.
