Lillie Mae Givan, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at her home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Cremation services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.


Lillie was born September 21, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Curlee and Doretha Viola (Hall) Jones. She grew up in Bakersfield, California and graduated high school in 1960. After high school Lillie attended and obtained her Associate degree from Bakersfield College.


On August 12, 1960 Lillie and Joe Givan were married in Bakersfield, California and were blessed with 64 wonderful years of marriage. Two beautiful baby girls, LaJoy and Cynthia soon joined this union.

Lillie Givan was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many through her devotion to family, faith, community, and personal interests.


From an early age, Lillie found solace and strength in her spiritual beliefs, embracing Christ as her Lord and Savior and nurturing a deep, personal relationship with the divine throughout her life.


In her professional endeavors, Lillie served as the dedicated field representative for State Senator Walter Stern for an impressive 16 years, actively engaging in the political sphere and contributing to her community through advocacy and service.

Beyond her work in politics, Lillie was an active participant in her community, contributing her talents to organizations like LINKS and enriching cultural life through her involvement in community theater productions. She also played a role in significant events such as the groundbreaking ceremony for Cal-State University, demonstrating her commitment to the advancement of education and opportunity.


Lillie found joy in a variety of personal pursuits, including golfing, decorating, and traveling. Her adventures took her to destinations far and wide, from Mexico and the Caribbean to various corners of the United States. Her time as a member of the Red Hat Ladies in Port Isabel, Texas, added a layer of camaraderie and enjoyment to her life.


Above all, Lillie will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may be physically absent, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly. Lillie Givan's legacy of love and compassion will be cherished for generations to come.


Survivors include her husband, Joe of the home; two daughters, LaJoy McCoy and husband Dale of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Cynthia Vick and husband Corkey of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three siblings, Larry Jones and wife Sharon, Delores Raphael, and Kenneth Jones and wife Ruth all of Bakersfield, California; four grandchildren, Dominic and Derek McCoy of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Joseph and Anthony Vick of Stillwater, Oklahoma; She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Curtis Jones and Eddie Jones.


Following Lillie’s wishes there will be no public services scheduled at this time.
