Linnie Marie Berkenbile

Linnie Marie Yost Berkenbile went to be with her Lord on June 15, 2025, at 12:49 a.m., at the age of 72.

Linnie was born on June 24, 1952, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Marie and Carl Yost. She attended Omega Public Schools and graduated in 1970 from Lomega Public Schools, the second graduating class following the consolidation of Loyal and Omega schools.

On June 5, 1970, she married the love of her life, Phil Berkenbile, at the Federated Church in Kingfisher. The couple made their home in Morrison, Oklahoma, beginning in 1972, where they built a life centered on faith, family, farming, and service.

Linnie pursued her education at Oklahoma State University while working in the OSU Engineering Department. She earned her Associate's degree before entering the College of Education, ultimately completing both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Education. Her professional journey reflected her deep commitment to education and service. She held various roles at Morrison Public Schools, including Cafeteria Director, Financial Secretary, and Business Education Instructor.

Following her time at Morrison Public Schools, Linnie joined the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education as a Program Specialist for Business Education. She later became the Manager and State Advisor for Oklahoma’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Business Professionals of America (BPA), where she impacted countless students and educators across the state.

Above all, Linnie’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She and Phil raised their children, Jennifer and Bobby, on the family farm, working side by side for over four decades. Linnie was a dedicated farm wife — driving tractors, raising livestock, and supporting FFA projects with patience and pride.

A gifted gardener, Linnie found peace and joy in the soil, often joined by her grandchildren as she cultivated both plants and memories. Her canned goods — especially her pickles, tomatoes, salsa, jams, and jellies — were known and loved by many. She was also an accomplished freehand landscape painter, leaving behind beautiful works cherished by her family and friends.

Linnie was preceded in death by her mother, Marie (Moore) Murphy; father, Carl Yost; stepfather, Jim Murphy; sister-in-law, Rebecca Yost; brother-in-law, Mike Cox; and nephew, John Yost.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Phil Berkenbile; daughter Jennifer Wehrenberg and husband Erich of Morrison; son Robert (Bobby) Berkenbile of Morrison; grandsons Tyler Wehrenberg and wife Kayla of Cashion, and Byron Berkenbile of Garber; granddaughters Maddy Wehrenberg of Morrison, Luci Berkenbile of Garber, and Lilly Berkenbile of Stillwater.

Linnie is also survived by her siblings: brother Louis Yost of Omega; sisters Carla Yost Cox of Loyal, and Anita Yost Cowan and husband David of Enid. She is lovingly remembered by nieces Lora Baker and husband Dennis, April Scott and husband Darren; nephews Chase Cox and wife Kari, Shawn Cox and wife Debbie, Dylan Cowan and wife Farrah, and Daniel Cowan and wife Tiffany.

A celebration of Linnie’s life is tentatively scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20th, at Morrison Hilltop Church, followed by a private interment at Hennessey Cemetery.
