Lois (Jones) Murray, 81, of Stillwater passed to her eternal mansion in Heaven on February 1, 2022, in Stillwater. Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
Lois was born on January 14, 1941, in Lampe, Missouri, to Lloyd R. and Marguerite M. Jones. She and her sister Lorene, grew up in the Ripley area. She married Earl Allen Murray on December 23, 1956 and together with their two daughters, operated the family dairy from 1974-1981. This union later ended in divorce.
Lois worked in several careers. She was employed at A.C. Gilliam Co. in Cushing, OK from 1963-1974, City of Stillwater/ Stillwater Airport from 1981-1988, and the US Department of Defense from 1988-1992 which involved several years working at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. She received eight exceptional performance awards and two outstanding performance awards, some due to her meritorious service during Operations 'Just Cause" "Desert Shield" and "Desert Storm." She was also named the Department of Drug Enforcement Administration, National Secretary of the Year in 1997.
She ultimately retired from the Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, Aviation Division in Ft. Worth, TX in 2005. After retirement she was actively involved in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, serving as the treasurer for several years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and worshiping with her friends at the Mehan Union Church.
She is survived by her sister, Lorene Mildred McGuire of Columbia, South Carolina; daughters, Rhonda Renee Johnson and husband Lynn of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Terri Lorraine Watkins and husband Ray of Roland, Oklahoma. She is also survived by grandchildren; Carrie Davis, Ashley Pineda, Brady Watkins, and Brandy Watkins; as well as six great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Golden Oaks Assisted Living and Companion Health of Stillwater with a special thank you extended to the "angels on earth"; Stephanie Blackwell, Jenifer Presley, Kelsey Olsen, Heather Schenck, Willena Christian, and Danelle Edgar.
Visitation will be at the Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 9:00
AM to 8:00 PM with Funeral Services on February 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Mehan Union Church with
burial at Ripley Oak Park Cemetery. Reverend Larry Eslinger will officiate. Condolences may be sent to
