Lynne S. Miller

December 14, 1941 — April 26, 2024

Stillwater

Lynne was welcomed to her heavenly home on April 26, 2024 into the loving arms of Jesus and her one true love, Steve, after completing her earthly duties as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.  She was born Carole Lynne on December 14, 1941 in Dallas to Edgar C & Louise (Huffstutter) Swain.  Her childhood years were happy and she enjoyed time with her sister, Anne, as they moved throughout Texas, Oklahoma and California.   She graduated from Northwest Classen High School (Oklahoma City) in 1959.  She then attended Oklahoma State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega.   She was introduced to Stephen J. Miller on a blind date and the rest, as they say, is history!

Steve and Lynne were married during a snow storm on January 20, 1962.  Upon his graduation, they moved to California for Steve to complete his PhD and they welcomed their first daughter, Stephanie, while there.  Steve accepted a faculty position at Penn State and they moved across the country to begin a new adventure.  While living in State College, PA, they welcomed two more daughters, Heather and Jennifer.  In 1971, they jumped at the chance to return home to Oklahoma.  The family moved to Stillwater where Lynne has joyfully resided since.

Lynne was always a caregiver.  She raised her girls with tender care and could always be counted on to volunteer at the school or join the girls in activities.  She opened a maternity & children’s store, Great Expectations, in downtown Stillwater and made and maintained many good relationships as a result.   Lynne and Steve greatly enjoyed international travel especially when traveling with students.  They spent nearly 20 summers in England, France and Japan guiding OSU study abroad programs.  She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and was currently serving on the Altar Guild.  She was an ambassador at The Botanic Garden of OSU and volunteered many hours tending to the gardens and conducting children’s programs.  She was a proud member of the BU chapter of PEO and held several leadership positions.   She loved her neighbors in Garden Pointe and was so thankful for the fellowship with these dear friends.  Lynne was also a 50+ year member at Yost Lake Country Club where she served on the Board (several times) and enjoyed sharing in the lives of so many families.

Lynne delighted in time with her family and always hosted the holiday gatherings.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely.  One look at her impeccable home let you know she was proud of the family based on the abundance of framed photos throughout.  She will be sorely missed by so many people whose lives she touched.

Lynne is predeceased by her parents and her husband of 54 years.  She is survived by her sister, Anne (Randy) Banks of Valencia, CA, her daughters Stephanie (Jim) Andrews of Boerne, Tx, Heather (Terry) White of Bixby, OK, and Jennifer (Chad) Hoecker of Tulsa, OK.   Also, grandchildren Eric (Chelsey) Andrews, Ellen Andrews, Ryan Hoecker, Emily Hoecker, Caroline White, Jackson White, Julia White, 3 great-grandchildren Lincoln, Klein and Rory Andrews. Nephew and nieces: Damon Banks, Candice Culhane, Debbie Violin, Phoebe Roth, Heidi Stolz and their families, and numerous friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation with family will be held Friday, May 3, from 4-6 p.m. at Dighton Marler Funeral Home at 5106 N Washington, Stillwater.  Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Zion Lutheran Church at 504 S Knoblock, Stillwater.  Memorial donations can be made to the OSU Foundation Friends of the Botanic Garden Fund or Zion Lutheran Church and can be submitted in care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home.
