Melea Jill Dodds, 71, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Born on September 20, 1954, in Wooster, Ohio, Melea was the cherished daughter of Franklin Benjamin and Wilda Ruth (Tuttle) Perkins.
Melea went to school at Stillwater High School, laying the foundation for a life rich in passion and dedication. On June 30, 1989, she married Fred J. Dodds in Stillwater, Oklahoma, sharing many years together until his passing. She was a woman of many interests, finding joy in collecting frogs, sewing, creating art, engaging in yard work, and spending time outdoors. Above all, she treasured moments spent with her beloved family.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Ruth Sloan (Michael); Kevin Spears; and Sally Grimes (Rob Reutlinger). Her siblings, Robert Perkins and his wife Susan, Art Perkins and his wife Brenda also survive her. Melea's legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Manda Rust (Michael), C.J. Sweet (Justin Smith), Sage Simpson (Tanner), Jamie Heaps (Conner), as well as Samantha Grimes and Abbagale Grimes. Her great-grandchildren Mason, Matthew, Miles, Milo, and Athena were a continual source of pride and joy to her.
Melea is preceded in death by her devoted husband Fred J. Dodds, her loving parents Franklin and Ruth Perkins, and her siblings Richard Perkins, Steve Perkins, and Jennifer Hazen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. at Freedom Church, located at 325 E Speer Ave, Sapulpa, Oklahoma 74066. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Melea are invited to gather in honor of her memory and the enduring impact she made upon those around her.
Melea Jill Dodds will be remembered not only for her warmth, creativity, and spirit but also for her unwavering love and dedication to family and friends, all of which will continue to inspire those who knew her. She leaves behind a treasured legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
