Michael Eugene Watts

November 8, 1947 — May 23, 2025

Ripley, Oklahoma

Michael Eugene Watts, affectionately known as "Gene," was born on November 8, 1947, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He peacefully passed away at his home in Ripley, Oklahoma, on May 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Gene dedicated over 25 years of his life to the agricultural community as the foreman for Joe Blair Farm, which subsequently became the Beth Crump Farm after the passing of Mr. Blair. It wasn't uncommon to see Gene feed some of the bulls out of his hand at the farm.  He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job. Beyond his career, Gene’s personality shone brightly; he was often recognized for his great sense of humor, bringing smiles and chuckles to those around him.

A proud member of the United States Army during the Vietnam era where he earned 5 bronze stars, Gene served his country with honor and dignity. His contributions and experiences during this time were a testament to his dedication and commitment.

On March 5, 1971, Gene married Vicki Lane in Ripley, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Gene's family was the center of his world; he deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his joy was evident when surrounded by them. His hobbies included mushroom hunting, fishing, raccoon (coon) hunting, deer hunting, pheasant & quail hunting, and spending time outdoors – activities that reflected his passion and appreciation for nature.

Gene's legacy lives on through his surviving family: his beloved wife, Vicki of the home; son, Michael Watts (Deann) of Ripley, Oklahoma; daughter, Amiee Lindstrom (Chris Bowman) of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brother, Jim Murray (Christel) of Rose Hill, Kansas; two sisters, Doris Scott (Johnny) and Glenda Jardot (Ronnie), both of Perkins, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Bill Wilkes; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Vacia Wilkes. Gene was particularly proud of being a member of the Stillwater Fraternal Order of Eagles since 2008 and held the honor of being a life member of the Stillwater VFW.
