Pauline G. Hooper died September 23, 2006, age 92, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
Pauline was born on February 19th, 1914 to James F. and Mary D. (Lyne) Gilchrist at Miltonvale, KS. The family moved to a rural area South of Glencoe, OK. in 1915 where she was reared and attended Eureka School, graduating in 1932. She then attended Oklahoma A&M College and graduated in 1940 with a Life Teaching Certificate in the School of Education.
She met Donald C. Hooper of Pawnee, OK and the couple was married on February 20th, 1937 in Fairfax, OK. The couple had a daughter, Jacqueline K. Hooper in December, 1944. During the marriage, Pauline was employed at C.R. Anthony Company; part time teaching; Civil Service during World War II and was last employed at the Stillwater Newspress. Later she participated in school activities including the P.T.A. and the 4H club. She then became active with community activities including committees for Water and Sewer; street improvements; the community building; C.E. Donart High School; the library; location of Stillwater Hospital and the Senior Citizens Center.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers, Edward, James Arthur and Bruce; 4 sisters, Eldina, Letha, Ruth and Alta Marie. She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline K. Morrison and husband Ronald; one grandson, Frederick Wayne Morrison all of Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation and a graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27th, 2006 at the Fairlawn Cemetery. Bro. Norman Richmond will be officiating. Pauline requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Glencoe United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
