Renée Michelle Rhodes came into the world in Norman, Oklahoma, and she spent her life doing what she was made for: loving her family well, following God passionately, and leaving every room a little brighter than she found it. She departed for her eternal home in Stillwater on May 22, 2026, surrounded by the beautiful life she had built. She now rests in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As a student at OSU, Renée encountered Jesus, and in 1993 she fully dedicated her life to following Him. Her faith was the foundational thread running through everything she did — her work for her church, the way she raised her children, the looking glass she saw the world through. She found God in Scripture, in people, and in creation.
She was funny and creative and fiercely herself. She loved to garden and read, designed with a natural eye, spoke with clarity and warmth, fiercely cheered on her team - GO POKES! - and held a rich love for American history. She was a reformer, a passionate believer that the world is meant to be changed for the better — and through her, it was.
Above all, Renée poured herself into her four children: Elyssa, Brandon, Rachael, and Madelyn. Her greatest work was them. Her greatest joy was watching them grow.
She is survived by her husband, Andy Rhodes; her children and their spouses: Elyssa and Blaike Johnson, Brandon Rhodes, Rachael and Jared Hughes, and Madelyn and Jared Johnson; her siblings, Karen Booker Chism and Gary Booker; and her grandson, Ezra Hughes — who will grow up hearing about a grandmother who loved big and held nothing back.
Celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church at 1401 N. Haskell BLVD., in Haskell, Oklahoma 74436 with interment following at Haskell Cemetery. Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater is entrusted with arrangements. www.dightonmarler.com.
