Robert Marsh Hassler

August 17, 1954 — June 12, 2019

Robert Marsh Hassler, known to friends and family as Bob or Bobby, passed from this life Wednesday morning, June 12, 2019, after a brief but intense bout with cancer. Bob was born August 17, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Donald Hassler and Helen Marsh. He grew up on the south Atlantic coast of Florida, lived for a time in Michigan and North Carolina, and moved to Oklahoma in 1993. Always there for a friend in need, Bob lived life with the spirit of a lion and the soul of an elephant, right up to the end.
As a man of many talents and blessed with a healthy dose of native intelligence, Bob could do nearly anything he set his mind to do. He was a carpenter, a woodworker, a mechanic, capable with electrical or plumbing issues, hard to beat at billiards and chess, and best known as an interior and exterior master painter. Bob was also a splendid chef - known for his smoked meats, and a keen fisherman. He periodically organized barbeque banquets and fish fries at local pubs and catered special events for family and friends. He was a natural story-teller, an avid reader and a poet too.
Bob leaves behind, all too soon, his devoted and loving partner Marilyn Thoele of Stillwater and his four-legged, furred family members – Dottie, Brownie, Samantha and Thelma Lou, his sister Ruby Ladd of Glencoe, his brother Phillip of Hull, MA, his sister Debra Flanagan of Boca Raton, FL, and numerous dear and close friends he called family. He also leaves behind his son John Hassler Clark of Wisconsin, his daughter Laura Lassiter of Charlotte, NC, one granddaughter and a great-granddaughter, four nieces, four nephews, three grandnieces, and two grandnephews. Bob’s memory will always be a blessing.
Condolences bay be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.dightonmarler.com.
