Sidney Wade Groom

Sidney Wade Groom, affectionately known as "Sid," was born on March 25, 1949, in Perry, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully at his farm home on April 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

A proud 1968 graduate of Perry High School, Sid pursued further education at Oklahoma State University, where he studied aeronautics. However, his true passion lay in farming and ranching. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to raising wheat and cattle, combining his love for the land with a robust work ethic that defined his character.

In April of 1970, Sidney was united in marriage to Linda Sue Fansler. Together, they built a life enriched by their shared values and commitment to family. Sadly, both Linda and their daughter, Amy Groom, preceded him in death, leaving a profound mark on his life.

Sid cherished the moments spent with his living relatives: his son, Wade Groom, who resides in Perry, Oklahoma; his brother, Darrell Groom, from Moore, Oklahoma; and his beloved grandchildren, Peyton and Clayton Groom. He also shared a close bond with his cousin, Ethel Groom Coe, also from Perry.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Sid enjoyed seeking out various interests; he loved welding and building things while also possessing a yearning to fly and a great appreciation for history. These hobbies allowed him to explore new avenues, but his heart always remained anchored in the land he worked and the family he adored.

Services have been entrusted to Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, Perry. Visitation for Sidney Wade Groom will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2025. Funeral service be at 2 PM Monday, May 5 at Perry - Dighton Marler Funeral Home, located at 203 East Fir Avenue, Perry, OK 73077. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate and remember a man who was devoted to his work, his loved ones, and his community. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery.

Sid's life was a tapestry woven with dedication, kindness, and a deep-seated love for those around him. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
