Walker Fredrick Clark

March 4, 1933 — August 2, 2025

Glencoe, Oklahoma

Walker Fredrick Clark, Jr., 92, long time Glencoe resident, passed away on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025. Services will be held on Friday, August 8th, 11:00 AM at the Glencoe Church of Christ under the direction of Dighton Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Gentle in talk, but strong in faith, Fred led his family by example. He was a lifelong member of the Glencoe Church of Christ. He taught Sunday School as well as held positions of Deacon and Elder of the church.

Fred was born on March 4, 1933, in Glencoe to Lizzie Ittner and Fred Clark, Sr. He was the youngest of five children. After graduating from Glencoe High School, he entered the Army and was stationed at Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War. Upon his return to Glencoe, Fred married Joan Shell. They were blessed with two children, Randy and Becky. Recently, Fred and Joan were celebrated by their family and friends on their 70th wedding anniversary.

Fred worked various jobs in his lifetime, working for the railroad, Boeing aircraft, and alongside his father-in-law Frank, building houses for Shelton Lumber. He ended his working career as Water Commissioner for the Town of Glencoe. Upon his retirement, the town board named the city lake “Fred Clark Lake” in honor of his 29 years of service to the town.

Fred was a 20 plus year member of the Glencoe Fire Department. During his time as Chief, he was instrumental in establishing the very first fireworks display held in Glencoe. He was a 50-year member of the Glencoe-Ingals Masonic Lodge, having joined in 1960.

Fred had many hobbies including playing the guitar and working with his beehives. He loved working with wood. You could find him in his garage creating things from the trees he had cut down - anything from tractors to turtles! Fred loved to fish. Checking his lines in the early morning and pulling out a big catfish gave him great joy. Spending time with his grandchildren always made him happy. He loved each and every one of them.

Fred is survived by his wife Joan, his son, Randall and wife Kimberly Clark; daughter, Becky and husband Alan Hetherington; 7 grandchildren, Brent Clark, Brooke Laird, Josh Clark, Trent Hetherington, Shanna Clark, Colby Hetherington, and Brien Clark; 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Proceeding Fred in death were his parents, Lizzie and Fred Clark; his brothers, Leonard Clark and Marion Clark; and sisters, Mary (Clark) Sawyer and Ethel (Clark) Adkinson; and an infant son.

Special thanks to Traditions Health for their loving care, we will forever be grateful.
