William Francis Sloan

July 9, 1930 — December 26, 2020

William (Bill) Sloan, 90, longtime Stillwater resident, passed away December 26, 2020 at his home in Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma where he had lived since October 2017 and Clela until her death September 29, 2018. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

Born on July 9, 1930 in Arkansas to Carmie Fern and Marion Haskell Sloan, Bill was a brother to three boys and one girl. He attended Pleasant Valley School near Stillwater, graduating from Stillwater High School.

Bill and Clela were active members of Stillwater Calvary Assembly of God for more than 55 years. He served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Adult Sunday School Teacher, and Organizer of Christmas candy and fruit bags. Bill and Clela loved to travel, and they vacationed often. They loved to play board games and often socialized inviting couples to their home for fellowship. Bill and grandson Dustin were avid fans of the OSU Cowboys and the Stillwater Pioneers. They rarely missed a game.

Bill is survived by a son, Michael William Sloan of Texas, and a grandson, Dustin Michael Sloan of Stillwater. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Teddy, and a brother Winsel. He is survived by a brother Glen, and a sister LaVada. bill and Clela were married 64 years when she passed on September 29, 2018.

Bill joined the United States Army in 1950, an active status of the Ready Reserve from 1951 to Army Reserve in 1953. He served in the Korean Conflict until 1956 when he was honorably discharged.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the benefit of his grandson, Dustin Sloan in c/o Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK., 74075.
