William Robert Burk, 66, of Stillwater passed away at his home on August 5, 2021. He was born on August 28, 1954 in Stillwater to Bobby Ben Burk and Elnora Maxine Seba Burk. He grew up in the area and graduated with the 1972 class of CE Donart High School in Stillwater. Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater has been entrusted with his care.
William was a fire fighter and EMT and retired after a 25 year career as a Captain of the Stillwater Fire Department. He was active in the Fireman’s Union throughout his career. When he wasn’t fighting fires he loved to be fishing or hosting a fish fry from his catches. He liked being with people and helping people. He was involved in AA and sponsored many men in recovery and was an encourager to all.
He enjoyed fixing things and doing things with his hands. Perhaps that is why he was a good EMT. He enjoyed growing strawberries and tomatoes in his garden and likes sharing them with family and friends.
He loved game nights, playing Dominos, Canasta, Aggravation, and anything else the family was playing. He also enjoyed tinkering with things and fixing things. Long before the Youtube he was fixing things just by persistence and figuring things out.
He is survived by siblings Connie Burk Lee, Bonnie Gladden, Judy Burk McClure, James Burk, Paul Burk, and Kelly Burk
He is also survived by this children, Brian Burk (Jenna) of Friend, NE, Jason Burk (Destiny) Tulsa, OK, William Burk (Lindsay) Bixby, OK. Grandchildren, Bennett Burk, Lane Burk, Blake Burk, Audrey Burk, Jayln Burk, Capri Burk, and Brecklyn Burk; along with many other extended family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held for family and friends at a future date. Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.dightonmarler.com
